Lynbrook is one of the Nassau villages with its own full-time municipal department, the Lynbrook Village Police Department, headquartered with the rest of village government at 1 Columbus Drive.[4][5] The department's non-emergency number is (516) 599-3300.[5] Unlike neighboring Valley Stream and North Valley Stream, Lynbrook does not appear among the communities either the Nassau County Police Department's Fourth Precinct (Hewlett) or Fifth Precinct (Elmont) lists as serving, consistent with the village fielding its own department.[10][11]

The Village maintains its own Village Court at 1 Columbus Drive, with Village Justice Richard A. Fasano and Associate Justice William J. McLaughlin; the court keeps daytime hours of 8:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on weekdays and reopens at 6:30 p.m. on court nights.[12] Larger civil and criminal matters go to the Nassau County District Court at 99 Main Street, Hempstead, and the Nassau County Supreme Court at 100 Supreme Court Drive, Mineola.[13][14]
