What Happened

An 86-year-old Dix Hills man died Saturday afternoon after the 2026 Subaru he was driving veered off northbound Burrs Lane and struck a tree, Suffolk County Police said. The crash was reported at approximately 1:50 p.m.

The man was transported to Good Samaritan University Hospital in West Islip, where he was pronounced dead, according to Greater Long Island. His identity has not been released; police are withholding his name pending notification of next of kin.

An 84-year-old woman riding as a passenger in the vehicle was also taken to Good Samaritan University Hospital in West Islip. She was treated for minor injuries, per the same report.
